Hal Jordon has finally caught up to Guy Gardner and his new yellow power ring, and it turns out that the two heroes are both trying to catch Goldface.

Hal suggests the two team up but Guy doesn’t want to be shown up, so instead Guy beats up Hal. Their fight is stopped when Guy’s current girl Sally and Hal’s best friend Tom are in danger. The two heroes save their friends but Guy still doesn’t want Hal’s help, so Hall takes Tom and flies off to San Francisco. Guy and Sally fly to McTeague’s Corner in Death Valley, the location that Mr. Gullet, Goldface’s lackey, gave them as Goldface’s hideout.

When Guy and Sally get to McTeague’s Corner, Goldface had already been alerted, and had setup some traps. One trap involved some aliens, one of which is a able to steal Guy’s ring and anther that is able to sneak up on Sally.

Meanwhile in San Francisco, Hal and Tom have found out some secret of where Goldface is truly hiding.
